This option remains unselectable (greyed out) unless at least one window 
is open. All open windows are closed if they were opened by Thing or 
registered with Thing via the AV Protocol with AV_ACCWINDOPEN.

In the latter case the owners of the window each receive a WM_CLOSED 
message.

If group windows in which changes have not yet been saved are still open, 
then 'Close All' will close them without a safety query -- i.e. the 
changes will be discarded.
