Icon in ICONS.RSC: "FOLDER" ⇨ NoteThe specified icon will only be used if there
is no explicit assignment in ICONS.INF.
AV object type: VA_OB_FOLDER (5)
A folder may be displayed in a directory window or installed on the
desktop or in a group, just like a file.
The folder name for folder icons in directory windows may be edited (or
removed) by selecting the icon followed by the 'File' > 'Show Info...'
option. The icon text for folders installed on the desktop may be
edited (aliased) by selecting the icon on the desktop followed by the
'File' > 'Show Info...' option.
By default, folders on the desktop or in group windows are opened in
'relative' mode. This means that the 'root' is the folder itself and not
the drive where the folder is located. This can be recognised by the
window title containing the name of the folder only (not the drive path).
Such a 'relative' directory can be closed immediately by clicking on the
window 'Closer' button or pressing the Undo key, without moving up to
the next directory level. Here the '..'-object comes into play: If you
select '..', the 'relative' directory window changes into a 'normal' one
and you will move up one directory level.
If you don't want to use 'relative' directory windows, you can turn
off 'Allow 'relative' folders' in the 'Configuration' > 'Window 1'
dialog of the 'Extra' menu.
