Overview of mouse actions

Left drag:
 ∙ Objects - Drag&Drop
 ∙ Desktop or window backgrounds - 'rubber band' selection

 Alternate  + Left drag:
 ∙ Drag&Drop with renaming

 Control  + Left drag:
 ∙ Drag&Drop with Move (delete originals)

 Left Shift  + Left drag:
 ∙ Drag&Drop with creation of symbolic links

 Right Shift  + Left drag:
 ∙ Drag&Drop with following of symbolic links

Left click:
 ∙ Object - individual selection 
 ∙ Window backgrounds - top window
 ∙ Desktop background - top Thing (MagiC and N.AES only)

 Control  + left click:
 ∙ Display context menu

 Shift  + left click:
 ∙ Object - additional selections
 ∙ Window 'Closer' - close window without changing to any parent directory

Double left click:
 ∙ Open object

 Control  + double left click:

 ∙ Top window, if background operation is activated and window is not 
   at the front (topped)
 ∙ 'Double-click simulation' (with all 'special' non-character keys too) if
   the corresponding option in the 'Desktop' page of the 'Configuration' 
   dialog is active; if not, display the context menu

Right drag:
 ∙ 'Real time' window scrolling in desktop windows

Right double-click and hold:
 ∙ 'Real time scrolling in background windows if 'Background window 
   selection' is not active


Overview of keyboard actions

 Alternate  +  A  to  Alternate  +  Z :
 ∙ Opens the corresponding drive (A to Z), where available
   Together with  Shift  opens a drive into the active directory window, 
   if available
 ∙ Selection of the corresponding shortcuts in a dialog field

 Return :
 ∙ Open selected object

 Shift  +  Return :
 ∙ Start selected program in Single mode, if Thing is running as a 
   Shell under MagiC and the program is not an installed application
 ∙ Open selected drive or folder in active directory window

 Control  +  Return :
 ∙ Display selected file

 Esc :
 ∙ Re-read active directory window

 Shift  +  Esc :
 ∙ Force media change of active drive
 ∙ Abandon changes to active object group

 Insert :
 ∙ Turn cursor in active directory or group window on/off

 Shift  +  Alternate  +  > :
 ∙ Send VA_START to an application named "START" if it is running; 
   normally this is StartMeUp and causes the popup to open. The shortcut 
   can be changed in THINGTXT.RSC.

 Control  +  Backspace :
 ∙ Open the 'parent popup' if a directory window is topped and no root 
   directory is being displayed
