View Ref-FileIntroduction: Cursor Thing

You can use the Insert key to toggle cursor mode between on and off in
an active directory or group window. The cursor, denoted by a flashing,
dotted outline drawn around the object, is either positioned on the
selected object or on the first object in the window.

With the cursor switched on the cursor keys, logically, no longer scroll
the window's contents but are used to navigate the cursor around the
window; this scrolls so that the selected object always remains visible.

All remaining operations -- auto-locator, selection with the mouse etc. --
can of course also be performed with the cursor switched on. The cursor
will be placed automatically on the first selected object.

In the 'Configuration' dialog of the 'Extra' menu one can alter the
behaviour of the cursor under the 'Window 1' tab.

'Cursor auto-selects objects' switched on (crossed)

The object lying under the cursor is selected automatically when
the cursor is moved. If one moves the cursor while holding down the
Shift key, the selection will be extended with additional objects.

   'Cursor auto-selects objects' switched off

Object selection can be toggled with Space (if the auto-locator
is not in use) or with Shift + Insert (if auto-locator is active).

Pressing Shift together with the ⇧ ⇩ cursor keys moves the cursor
by one page height.

Pressing Shift + Space allows a single object to be selected
exclusively.
