Floppy drive installation

Note: The floppy drive must be set to DS0 (drive select #0) otherwise the
      machine will not boot correctly.

How do I modify a floppy drive that has no DS0 jumper?
Most drives sold are set up for a PC.  Meaning they are factory set
for ID 1 by default.  This seems rather stupid, and Atari's and a lot
of other non-PC's use ID 0.

So if there is no jumpers on the back, like most new floppy drives
I've seen, there should be some little solder pads on the drives PC
board.  Quite often the PC board is covered by a metal shield, so you
can't damage it, but there are usually holes in the cover and they let
you access the solder pads.  If not you will have to remove the metal
cover.  They might be marked as '0' and '1' or 'DS0' and 'DS1', but
they both mean the same.  I think 'DS' means 'disc select'.

You'll need to remove the solder bridging (blob) across pad 1 and put
a little bit of solder across pad 0.

If your still have problems finding the pads, as it can be difficult,
they're usually situated near the floppy connector.  Follow the traces
from pins 10 and 12.  Pin 10 is DS0 and pin 12 is DS1.  Those pins will
lead you to the solder pads.
